‘A Tale of Two Cities’ is a cross-cultural exchange programme that brings together 11 modern artists from India, Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries to exhibit their unique works of art. It will be held in India from 30th to 31st March at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
This programme is the idea of Renu Modi, and is presented by Gallery Espace and Serendipity Arts Trust and supported by the Theertha Artists Collective.
The two cities explored by the drawings, photographs and videos are Varanasi in India and Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. The artists made a creative dialogue on the complex socio-cultural dynamics of two highly symbolic sites in South Asian history.
