A survey conducted by the Telegraph Newspaper in an attempt to map out the world’s most religious countries saw Sri Lanka placed in the top 5.
The result is based on an accumulation of three Gallup polls taken in 2008, 2009 and 2015.
The results of the survey showed that 5 countries including Sri Lanka saw a 99% positive response when asked if they ‘felt religious.’ The other 4 countries were Ethiopia, Malawi, Niger, and Yemen.
Sri Lanka, interestingly, is also the only country in the top 10 that does not have either a Christian or Muslim majority population.
At the other end of the spectrum, China was recorded as the least religious country, with only a 7% of respondents saying they ‘felt religious.’ Japan followed with 13%, Estonia with 16%, and Sweden with 19%.
