4 army athletes off to the Asian Athletic Championship

Four athletes of the Sri Lankan Army will be representing Sri Lanka at the 22nd Asian Athletic Championship, which will be held at Bhubaneswar, India from 6th to 9th July 2017. They are -
2nd Lieutenant R.P.B.I Dayaratne - he was placed 9th in the world ranking index of the International Association of Athletic Federation (IAAF). The high point of his career was a Javelin throw of 82.19 m.
Private U.K.N Rathnayake - she set a national record by finishing a 3000 m steeplechase pet event in 10 minutes and 4 seconds.
Private H.D.V Lakshani - she set a national record in the women’s category with a 13.64 m triple jump.
Corporal H.M Dilip Ruwan - he clocked 46.46 seconds in a 400 m hurdle race in the men’s category.
They were chosen by the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka (AASL), based on their performance at the recent national selection trials at Diyagama.
The Asian Athletic Championship is organized by the Asian Athletic Association biannually.
