J R Jayawardene’s son Ravi passes away

Ravindra ‘Ravi’ Vimal Jayewardene, the only son and child of J R Jayewardene, passed away today (3rd April) morning at his house in Colombo, his family revealed. He was 80 years old at the time of his passing.
He was a pilot in Air Ceylon and then served as the Presidential Security Adviser. He was a notable marksmen and the founder of the elite Special Task Force.
His father, Junius Richard Jayewardene, was the first executive President of the nation in 1977, and changed the name of the country from Ceylon to Sri Lanka. He was a long time member of the UNP.
