New Year brings SLTB and RDA major profits

The Road Development Authority (RDA) recorded a total of Rs. 230 Million in tolls from the use of the Southern and Katunayake expressways during the New Year Holidays, which is a 25% increase from the income generated with last year's New Year season.
Mr. S. Opanayaka, the Director of the Expressway Operations said around 750,000 vehicles had used the two highways between April 7th and 16th.
96,000 vehicles used the Southern expressway on 7th April alone; which is incidentally the highest number of vehicles ever recorded to have used the highway on a single day, this year.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) saw a revenue of Rs. 72 Million during the New Year season.
A spokesperson, for the SLTB said, that the sum was generated between the 6th and 16th April.
Moreover, revenue earned by the railway service saw a 25% increase when compared to what was recorded in previous years.
