Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, India yesterday (25th April) evening. His official tour will be from 25th to 29th April.
The delegation includes -
Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management.
Malik Samarawickreme, the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade.
Saman Ekanayake, the Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Saman Athaudahetti, the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Asoka Girihagama, the current Ambassador to Oman, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sandra Perera, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.
Taranjit Singh, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Chitranganee Wagiswara, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in New Delhi, welcomed the delegation.
On 26th April, PM Ranil met Sushma Swaraj, the Indian External Affairs Minister, in New Delhi. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Sri Lanka, on cooperation in economic projects.
He then met Nitin Gadkari, the Indian Minister of Transport. The Opposition Leaders of India called upon him later.
PM Ranil met Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, today as well. They held bilateral talks, and discussed the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA). They also talked of the fishing issue in the Palk Strait, and cooperation in the shipping and port sector.
"Held comprehensive talks with PM Ranil Wickremesinghe on ways to strengthen India-Sri Lanka ties for the benefit of our citizens," Modi tweeted after the meeting held at Hyderabad House.
