Politicians look for the Elephant's Eye

The New Year is now over. Those who went home for the holidays, are returning to the city. Most politicians too have been out of the country for the holidays, or at the very least out of Colombo.

Meanwhile, many politicians in and around Colombo participated in the New Year festivities organised by Parliament officials. 'Drawing the Elephant's Eye' took on special significance during these Avurudu games. Seeing as it is the 'Elephant party' (UNP) that runs the country nowadays, there was much mention of the game in various Media channels too.

Be that as it may, the one to come closest to drawing the Elephant’s Eye, was Minister Gayantha Karunathilake. Meanwhile, Mahindananda Aluthgamage who was nowhere close, was heard saying that neither can the Elephant’s eye be drawn, nor can it be shown the right thing either. Minister Karunathilake responded, saying that if one were to be patient, he will be able to draw the eye, full and well.

The banter between the two seemed to be received in good spirits by those around them, who continued the chatter about Elephants.
