Private buses run, union action a flop
Buses operated in the Western Province more efficiently yesterday to offer a streamlined service notwithstanding the strike threatened by a union, Western Province Road Transport Authority Chairman Thusitha Kularathna said. He said bus crews worked with added enthusiasm to provide an efficient service to passengers yesterday.
He said not a single private sector bus driver or conductor had participated in the strike in the Western Province yesterday. He requested the public not to believe in rumours spread by interested parties.
