Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had an unscheduled meeting yesterday (5th April) at the Parliamentary complex, reliable sources reveal.
The former President had suddenly walked into the Prime Minister’s office situated on the second floor of the Parliamentary complex. The meeting is said to have gone on for nearly 20 minutes.
While a group of Joint Opposition members had accompanied the former President, they did not go in for the meeting with the Premier, it is said.
This meeting is said to have created much chatter among the Parliamentarians, the sources reveal further.
The meeting taking place so close to the key China tour of the Premier, emerging reports coming out about the replacement of the former President’s Army security with Police personnel, and other such concerns had caused many to observe and comment on this meeting.
Meanwhile, three UPFA members were sworn in as Deputy and State Ministers by President Maithripala Sirisena today (6th April)
