Sichuan University and the Pathfinder Foundation sign MoU to promote education in SL

Sichuan University and the Pathfinder Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday (24th April) afternoon, in Colombo. They will join to focus on the development and promotion of education in both Sri Lanka and China.
The MoU was signed by Luxman Siriwardena, the Executive Director of the Pathfinder Organisation, and the Executive Director of the Faculty of Social Development and Western China Development Studies of the Sichuan University.
Milinda Moragoda, the founder of the Pathfinder Foundation also attended the event.
Luxman Siriwardena said, “Our primary objective is to have joint studies on mutually beneficial or mutually interesting areas such as the Chinese tourism to Sri Lanka, what are the constraints and issues and try to develop such and what actions needs to be taken for further development as well as another area that we have already identified is the study on the Sri Lankan and Chinese legal systems. These will be followed up in the months to come”.
Sichuan University (SCU) is one of China’s top universities, attached to the Ministry of Education. The Chairman of the University Council of Sichuan University is Wang Jianguo, and the President is Xie Heping. Sichuan University is located in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. It consists of three campuses:Wangjiang, Huaxi and Jiang’an.
The Pathfinder Foundation (PF) is a non-profit, non-partisan research & advocacy think-tank which has played a direct and catalytic role in promoting economic policy reforms in Sri Lanka. Registered in 2008, the Institution’s focus is on promoting market oriented economic reforms and public private partnerships together with building foreign partnerships to promote people-to-people relations.
